WealthWebGurus mid year update

I can’t believe June 30th has come and gone, the kids are out of school the heart of summer is here.
For WealthWebGurus.com, 2010 is kind of a comeback year. Previously, I took a year off of writing to recharge my batteries and it’s been a lot of fun getting back into it and more importantly, connecting with a whole new group of personal finance bloggers.

Blog or Article?

Over the past 12 years, my weekly column was picked up by some very mainstream media like the Globe and Mail, National Post, Edmonton Journal, Moneysense, YahooFinance, – just to name a few. Thanks to these well known media giants, my credibility and notoriety spread quickly.

This time around, it’s been a different journey. Right or wrong, I’ll term the journey more ‘underground’ or ‘grassroot’ in nature. Instead of being a personal finance columnist, I am now considered a personal finance blogger. I think the distinction between the two titles is subtle only because I have not really changed what I write and how I write.

I must applaud many of the personal finance bloggers I have read and conversed with. I’ve learned that the blogging community is very supportive of each other and although many of the bloggers are not from the financial industry, they are passionate about delivering good information and share really great ideas. At one time I was skeptical about people reading and learning from people who I thought at the time were not qualified to provide information on personal finance but the bloggers I have met have completely changed by tune.

I am proud to be called a blogger because I have seen wonderful blogs, run by intelligent people giving good information. It’s a collaborative community that gives readers the opportunity to engage with other people who have similar interests in different aspects of personal finance.

Many Thanks

WealthWebgurus.com has rejuvenated itself with the help of many bloggers and media personalities. My traffic has increased exponentially again and I look forward to more success in the future as one of Canada’s premiere sources of personal finance, wealth, retirement ,investing and money. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank some a few people for helping me with some of this recent success.

What’s coming?

WealthWebGurus.com has been running for over 12 years. There are thousands of articles on the site, not just from me but also from contributors like Grant Hicks and Peter Merrick.

Because my site was running long before blogging even existed, the look and feel is much different than most other blogs. In some ways that is good and in other ways that is not so good. My intent for the rest of the year is to take a hard look at the structure, feel and features of the site and continue to make some changes.

My first big change was moving the site to a different server. That was a painful experience as we had a lot of down time but for the most part, things are up and running again. If you came to the site and could not view my articles, I apologize for any inconvenience.

For now, I thank you for taking the time to read my work and I look forward to connecting in the future.

Hey – nice blog, just wanting round some blogs, appears a fairly nice platform You Are using. I’m currently using Drupal for a few of my websites but looking to change one in all them over to a platform very a lot the same to yours as a trial run. Anything in particular you’ll suggest about it?
